Healing

Psalm 148:1-6

148 Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord from heaven!
    Praise God on the heights!
Praise God, all of you who are his messengers!
Praise God, all of you who comprise his heavenly forces!
Sun and moon, praise God!
All of you bright stars, praise God!
You highest heaven, praise God!
Do the same, you waters that are above the sky!
Let all of these praise the Lord’s name
because God gave the command and they were created!
God set them in place always and forever.
God made a law that will not be broken.

Reflection

As Spring emerges and we see signs of new life, we are reminded of the wonder of Creation and the love of our Creator.  I received this poem from a Trinity member and share it with you today on this Earth Day.  I pray that you take time to care for creation in some way today, and each day.

History repeats itself.

This poem written in 1869,during the cholera outbreak and Reprinted during Spanish flu pandemic was written in 1869 by Kathleen O’Mara:

And people stayed at home
And read books
And listened
And they rested
And did exercises
And made art and played
And learned new ways of being
And stopped and listened
More deeply
Someone meditated, someone prayed
Someone met their shadow
And people began to think differently
And people healed.
And in the absence of people who
Lived in ignorant ways
Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
The earth also began to heal
And when the danger ended and
People found themselves
They grieved for the dead
And made new choices
And dreamed of new visions
And created new ways of living
And completely healed the earth
Just as they were healed.

Prayer:

Creating God, we know that our world is in need of healing. We are in need of healing. In this time of a slower pace, help us to see what really matters. Help us to notice ways in which we can change our ways to ease the groaning of the earth. Breathe your healing love into us, so that we might be inspired and enabled to care for all of your good Creation. Amen.
