Philippians 4:6-7 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Let’s be honest. Most of us have been worrying A LOT lately. There is much to cause worry in our world, in our communities and in our individual lives. Worry seems to have taken up residence in our hearts.
Scripture encourages us not to worry, and instead to pray. To pray with gratitude for the ways you have been blessed, for the little things and the big things. We are encouraged to come before God in prayer and thanksgiving.
Today as you celebrate Canada Day, what are you thankful for? What ways can you show gratitude? What are your prayers today?
Canada Day is also a day to celebrate as we give thanks to God for this country we live in, for the ways we can move forward in peace, for the opportunity to celebrate diversity and work for justice.
