Turning the Calendar

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (It’s worth reading all of chapter 3)

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

Reflection

Tuesday we will turn the calendar to September (I know, some have already done that as they look forward).  I always find that when a new month is upon us, I see all that needs to be done. For many September has traditionally been a time of new beginnings, new opportunities, the start of a new year.  This year, while all that might still be true, for many the uncertainty about school, work, community events has people feeling anxious about what comes next.

And yet, scripture reminds us that for everything there is a season.  While we may not know what that season entails or while we might fear/dread/anticipate/place hope in/step lightly into this new season, we can trust that God will be with us. The God who neither slumbers nor sleeps, the God from whom our help comes, the God who is worthy of our praise is with us in this new season.  Trust in God’s presence. Seek God out.  Know that God is good and God walks with you. Praise be to God!

Prayer

God, here we go….into a new month and a new season in our lives. We don’t know what it entails, but we do know you are with us.  Help me to feel your presence, to walk in Jesus’ steps and to radiate the love you share.  Amen.
